So I was having issues with the intake gasket leaking pretty bad. So I decided to change it. When I was messing around with it last week I was get coolant coming out from under the intake gasket. Which I was told was common if the intake gasket wasn't properly seated. After I took the intake off I examined the ports and found a 1/8" hole in the passenger front coolant passage. It doesn't look like its suppose to be there isn't going to hurt anything or should I take the head off to be sure?
I figured it would. It ran too good to have a major compression issue. When it is complete, you can also do a pressure test on the cooling system. You might be able to get a loaner tool to do it. Basically a radiator cap with a pressure pump built into it to check for pressure losses/leaks.
Never seen a hole like that before. Luckily you were able to patch it from the inside so hopefully the pressure will hold. My concern is towards how well the JB weld is going to handle the heating / cooling cycles.
Anyway, I assume this discovery was purely coincidental and had nothing to do with the leak, right?
What head are they?
