Can firing order determine engine block size?
#1
I have a 1989 block (E9AE-8015-AA-82-D9) in a 1985 Bronco (VIN# 1fmdu15hxfla17630) I just acquired. The firing order is 13726548. In my Haynes is lists the 351 having the same firing order and the 302 having a firing order of 15426378. May sound like a foolish question but is it safe to assume I have a 351 and not a 302? I only ask because the seller of the Bronco said he was told that it was a Jasper 302 under the hood when he bought it. Very pleased with my first Bronco and drive it daily....just want to be able to talk intelligently when I walk into the parts store.

VIN# makes it a 1985, the engine block# is an 1989, and the front end is from a 1987. I call it Broncenstein. [Image: bronco.gif]

302HO's shared same firing order as 351's...standard 302's had diff firing order. did you look at cap and determine what firing order you have now? usually there is a #1 marked on the cap...and you have to go counter clockwise to check. 351's have a taller deck height and the intake should be a little wider than a 302. that block number you listed should tell you everything about the block. google ford engine block numbers to help break it down.
