Where is your clearance issue?

BTW- I am pretty sure Ron Davis will tell you that mounting that fan to the radiator with those plastic tie deally whoppers is a big No No.

The way I fixed that on my rig was to install two 10" fans in place of the single large 14" fan because of the hub height issue with the WP pulley. There isn't really much you can do to mod the WP pulley unless you mod all the pulleys in the system to maintain alignment.

This is a long shot that failed on my rig but I am not sure of your setup, but can you put the fan on the front side and make it a pusher.

You could go with the two fan idea. Consider that the area of two 10" fans is actually very similar (a=pi*r^2) so a 10" fan= 314 in.sq. times two fans = 628 in.sq. whereas a single 14" fan has 615 in.sq.

The power draw from two fans versus one is negligible but I know that is probably the last thing you want to do at this stage in the game since you have everything mounted up.

Sorry your luck is going south. Did your new alternator and battery work out ok?

Simple...just remove the water pump:hysterical:...just kiddin'

Can you flip the fan around to the front of the radiator and use it as a pusher instead of a puller?

Well I decided to go back with my mech. fan. No big deal I just put it all back the way I had it. My new alt. and battery work fine I will do a longer test drive tommorow. I went around the block a couple times after idle in the driveway for 15 minutes or so. Anyway all this would not have come about if my brand new alt. did'nt crap out. Thanks everyone!

I know Im late to chime in, away again visiting famliy. The imput seal is very easy to change, and with the added stress of being in the eb its not uncommon to leak. You should be using atf(dextron) in that box. If you have ever used ps fluid it will dry out the seals and cause a leak.
As for you fan, here is another idea. I used a adjustible temp switch that slid into the upper radiator hose. It opened from 160-230. With that I wired in a cut off switch. This is VERY importent. If you go threw deep water the fan will suck that radiator into its self.
Its a hard habit to teach your self, but with a mechnical fan you need a guard, with the electric a guard works too, but much better to shut off the fan. I run 3 fans(trans, ps/oil cooler, extra engin) and one switch kills all 3. I'm no longer using the temp switch.
I prefer to just run them as much as posible. I think I got it at a Napa auto parts, once I get home I can look for the part # if you would like.

I will take that part number too when you get it. I bet that is what happened to chuck the other week when he lost his rad to the fan in water. I need to fab a guard too.
