Front diff PM
#21
The front oil is not as crucial as the rear since it is not always in use. I would go with a name brand non synthetic. I like to stay away from the genercis.

My rear always gets fully synthetic with the special locker juice.

ok JP, I know I am late again. But let me chime in too.
You cant mix ring and pinion sets once they have been broken in. So save that other rp set(if its the same ratio) for when you are ready to fix this right.
You can run a damaged ring gear, but just keep in mind that spinning your front tires realy hard could cause the ring gear to shatter.
You need to clean the pumpin out with break clean, change both axle seals(just inside the carrier bearings). Check the vent hose bung for obstructions and run a new hose for the vent.
The bearing you had fall apart is the axle shaft support bearing. Take the spindle into a good parts store and show them what you want. You may even be able to get a number off the bearing once its out.
Dont sweat the drums, I dont realy cut my drums on my trucks that have them unless they are warped. Just pick up some new shoe's, scuff the drums with sand paper and put it back together.
I will say that a welded diff(lincon locked we call them) is not very good for your front. Its the same as a spool and can break axle shafts that way.
My suggestion is save up some coin and get a locker for the front, the disk brake parts and use that spare ring and pinion set to put it right. Dont forget to get a axle shaft dust shield and brass thrust washer for your Left shaft and check the right for the same thing. If you need a blow up diagram of all the parts you supposted to have let me know I can try to scan one.
