C4 question
#1
I can get a free c4 from a late model mustang. What needs to happen to get it to mate to the dana 20?

The car version C4 are usually a case fill design. The bell housing bolts directly to the pump. They tend to have smaller intermediate servos and rarely have hardened inputs. It can be used, but not my choice for strength.

Otherwise to make 2wd version fit a EB you will need an output shaft and an extension housing.

Weren't the car C4 transmissions longer than the Bronco? The Bronco C4 was Bronco only. You have to have the short main shaft to convert a Mustang C4. Right?

The 4wd version has a short output and extension housing that mates to the transfer case. The 2wd has a long slender extension housing that accept the slip yoke driveshaft.

Early BII's had a C5 4wd. C5 is an updated C4 that has an inertia lock up converter. It may be possible to find one of these and swap the bell housing for the 302.
