You are documenting your build really well. I wish I had done that when first started mine. I think I would have appreciated it more to have a running record of all the things I did. Keep up the great work. Hope to see it in action soon.

this is not all that I have done this is like a quick build thread short story kinda thing.

I am pretty much done just have to hook up the brake line that comes from the frame but I need some brake cleaner cause the end fell in the dirt so I gotta clean it and I need 4 crush washers for the flex lines at the rotors but the dreary weather is pissing me off so tomorrow after work I will stop and get some crush washers and a can of brake clean. After all that is hooked up I gotta adjust the master cylinder.
here are some pics this one is of the air compressor trailer carcus that I modded to haul my axle to the inlaws because my work truck was in for service.

here are the measurements that I came up with for my setup
center to center the perches were 40" apart
from brake flange to the center of the perch was 6 3/4"
from center of perch to center of shock mount was 6 1/4"
and if you set the perches at 0 degrees and turn the pinion up till it reads 12 degrees that was what I set mine at that is just about perfect for 4" of lift.
the pinion is still sitting about 1.5 degrees low but that is fine it accounts for the spring compression that way the angle never gets to far out of place.
the perches I used were 7" long I guess this helps with spring wrap since the stock perches are only like 3.5" long they have 3 center pin holes to allow you to move the axle back or forward if you want. these perches are made from 1/4" steel very stout. this is the second set I have used not due to bending or anything I just wanted a disc brake axle. here is a link to the perches.

oh yeah a couple of other things I thought about
A good help in doing a axle swap is a small set of wheels/tires so that you can just roll the axle out from under the truck and move it around.
I swapped the diff covers cause the one on my old axle was a $100 SOLID diff cover and the one on the disc brake rear was a very light guage stock diff cover so I swapped them out and managed to save all the fluid in the old one since there is maybe 1500 miles on that oil that way my bud doesn't have to buy new fluids.

Looks like you have thing handled. There is a good size junk yard in Lexington, NC that deals in nothing but Rangers, Explorers, and Bronco II's. I have his card around here somewhere.

After the 4.0 swap I realized that the tranny had some bearing noise so I drove it around and enjoyed doing so for a couple weeks before i got back into the tranny. Yesterday I decided to go ahead and pull the tranny and take it back to the JY cause there was only 2 days left on the 30 day warranty. Today I went and pulled the last FM146 out of the JY I sure hope it works, it was coated in a really thick oily dirt substance but it didn't smell off gear oil it was just motor oil. On the way home I stopped off at the parts store to see if my clutch had come in yet.( I returned my other clutch cause I smoked it a couple of times when I pulled the tree out of the ground last week so since it had a life time warranty I had it replaced) My new clutch had not come in yet so I went ahead and bought some purple power degreaser so I could clean the tranny up. that worked a little bit but I decided to whip out the pressure washer and boy is it clean now. I pulled the pan and checked out the gears, they all look good from what I could see. I also pulled the plate in the top to look inside and it also looked good so I resealed everything and closed it all back up. AND THEN THE !@#$ RAIN CAME!!!!!!!!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:
so I closed up shop and went inside. I guess with weather permiting I will finish it up tomorrow.

I got the tranny,starter,exhaust bolted in and started up the truck to see if there was any bearing noise and Hell yeah no noise so I am going to finish up the other stuff and take it for a ride.

I got it all put back together and it is nice and quiet. and from what I am reading on my clubsite they are trying to get a run back out to harolds set up for next weekend so hopefully i can get some test time in
