My fuel guage does not work correctly. Either reads full or empty, no in between. What I found out was the sending unit is the wrong one. Chuck at BC is aware of this and has found a replacement. I thought this issue was taken care of on the newer tanks. It will read up round 1/4 tank with 15 gallons in it.

Casey,
I'm gonna try and run a ground wire and supply wire straight from the gauge cluster to the tank. Just gotta find some good wire somewhere. It worked for me last week but like you 15 gallons got me I tad bit over 1/4 tank full. Now it reads dead.

My tank reads 1/2 full when it is full... I have a new sending unit that I will calibrate and install.

I think chuck at bc was referring to the vent line for the filler neck. I don't think you need to vent the tank like you were describing.

One quick check you can do is to check the ohm reading at the sender and then check it at the gauge. My guess is about 45 ohms at half full. Can't remember the exact figure. There is a thread on classic chuck posted a while back

Hooked up a Sun Pro fuel gauge and the gauge is now reading a full tank. For some odd reason the gauge in the dash isn't working. Still not sold on it working properly but wont take long before the gas goes in these things!

Most likely if you have a newer BC tank it is something other than the sending unit. I got my tank back in 2010. I have not called and ordered the replacement sending unit yet as I have plenty of other stuff to take care of. Plus I have a new toy that has completely consumed my weekend.
