77 LUBR Build in SC, Part 2
#21
Got around to grinding off booger welds the last two days. Also added some strength to the PS area as well as adding more welds to the track arm drop bracket. Got to fill the threaded holes with Loctite constr adhesive and smear some over the VIN stamps. Frame is already loaded to drop off Friday, will get back next tuesday. I sure hope getting this thing galvanized pays dividends!

Finally finished the mods I needed in order to drop this thing off this morning. I was told to use a specific Loctite constr adhesive to fill all threads being used. Lots of holes on this frame, may not use 75% of them so I didn't caulk them. You can see where i coveed the frames VIN as best i could, we will see. I did have to drill more holes than I wanted to. Two things can ruin a great galv job and that's air pockets and puddling. They told me they would leave it in the acid bath longer than norm due to the rust hidden inside the frame.

Not much going on these days. Frame is still galvanized, haven't made it to the powder coater yet. Money was tight this month with wife's BD and Xmas. I was able to pick up a 76-77 PS box a few days ago, thanks Charles! Also put a down payment on a used full roll cage, hope to get it really soon. Still trying to sell my 77 F150, lots of nibbles but no bites.

Did score some bronco parts over Xmas. As usual my dad like to support my addiction. New turning lights should look really nice in my eyebrow grill!

Wanted to update this age-old thread as I have added some parts to my arsenal. Over the last few months I was able to pick up a "Granny" 5.0 efi motor, a used Crab Roll Cage, picked up a few steering parts, got another hard top that's in great shape, and soon I will be heading down to Florida to pick up a used WH 3.5" SL from broncomatt. As far as the frame I haven't had the opportunity to get it powder coated yet.

Every time I get the money together people like broncomatt gives me a deal I can't refuse. Plus having 7 yards of concrete poured in and around my garage has taken some change out of my pocket as well. But now I can work on my bronco in comfort. Did I mention Deer Season starts in 10 days! Another excuse to not work on my bronco!

Sounds like someone needs to ride along on a wheeling trip and rediscover his motivation. Get to work!
