I guess I wrenched on the fitting to the high pressure side one too many times. It has been leaking at the base of the fitting ever since I pulled it off the other day for maintenance. I even bought a new Aeroquip steel fitting in hopes the old brass fitting was just junk with stretched threads but I still have the leak so the only thing left is to replace the PS pump unless someone knows of a place in town that is willing to re-port the housing with a slightly larger size to replace the old damaged one for less than the $55.00 it is going to cost me to purchase a reman from DAPs.
Oh, in case any of you are scratching your head, I am referring to the '96 Explorer V8 PS pump I am running in my rig, not the canned ham.

my setup does not have room for a pump with a integrated reservoir thus the problem.
I have a handful of spare pumps in my shed but they will not work with this setup. What is wrong with wasting money. Afterall, it grows on trees, right?

New pump did not fix the problem. I am still leaking at the pressure side right at the base of the fitting. It shoots out atomized PS fluid. Dangerous stuff around a hot engine. I am pulling the new pump and lines and going straight to Charleston Rubber and Gasket on Monday and asking them WTF!!! I am in the hole $75.00 with them on hoses and additional fittings and now I just dropped $55.00 on a new pump for no damn reason when it was their fitting all along.
Of course they are not liable because I never showed them the pump in the first place and they can only guess what parts will be right for me. How convenient and what a great way to make some $$$.
Ok, I'm done for now. Wife is having contractions.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but you CANNOT use rubber o-ring type seals on a high pressure PS type system, right?
My pump came with both a nylon and rubber o-ring and I am a little confused.
Thx.

Never tried to use that setup, I like the sagina. You can use either nylon or rubber orings, it depends on the fluid you use. The nylon is ment for PS fluid, the rubber is ment for atf.
Not sure what is leaking, but with new parts mated together I would be taking something back. How about some pics.

I figured it out. I will get some pics and make a write-up asap. Let's just say the problem was the freaking stupid FORD fitting and port style!
